This week’s Ed Tech Fitness challenge was about mindful breathing. To stay with that theme let’s take a look at a service that is designed to help you understand your students’ emotions and help them understand their emotions. That service is called YouHue.

YouHue is a service that works through you an app your iPad and your students’ iPads. After you register as a teacher on YouHue you can add your students to a class in your YouHue account. Through the app you can ask your class to register how they feel at any time. You can ask all of your students to respond at the same time or you can ask individual students respond. Students can respond by tapping on a emoji and or by writing how they feel.
As is explained in the preceding video, YouHue can help you and your students understand how they feel about interactions and lessons in your classroom and school. By regularly gathering this information you and your students may be able to see patterns. If a negative pattern exists, you can work with your students to change it. If a positive pattern exists, you can help your students use that pattern more often and or in different areas of their lives.
My only early criticisms of YouHue is that is only available on iOS and that setting up a classroom requires contact from a YouHue representative.
