Last week’s Ed Tech Fitness challenge was all about flexibility. How did you do? Leave a comment or check in on the accountability page. This week’s challenge is to drink more water. For me this means grabbing my Nalgene bottle or a can of seltzer instead of refilling my coffee mug for the 4th, 5th, or 7th time. For you it might mean replacing that Diet Coke or second cappuccino with a bottle of water.

Benefits of Drinking Water
The CDC and the Mayo Clinic have good, reliable information about the benefits of replacing sugary and caffeinated drinks with water. Some highlights from those pages include:
- Lubrication and protection of joints
- Mood normalization
- Reducing risk of kidney stones
- Body temperature regulation
Apps to Help You Remember to Drink Water
Last week I wrote a lengthy piece about a free Android app called Watermaniac. This free app will send you reminders throughout the day to drink water. Every reminder displays a fun fact like, “drinking water supports healthy kidney function” and “drink water, it can prevent hangovers.”
For those who are iOS users or those who just don’t want to add another app to their phones, you could use Google Keep or the native iOS reminder app to create reminders to drink water throughout the day.
