I just finished a fat burning workout on my bike. It’s 15F outside here in Maine so the workout was on my bike that is hooked up to a stationary trainer. The workout that I did was GCN’s 20 Minute Fat Burning session.
GCN (Global Cycling Network) has dozens of free workout videos that you can following along with while riding on your stationary bike. The workout leaders are either former or current professional cyclists including some that have ridden in the Tour de France and Olympic Games.
I already have road bikes and the stationary trainer that I own costs $129 on Amazon. The workout videos from GCN are free. So for roughly $2000 less than Peloton I can get a great workout on my bike. I don’t have the interactivity component that Peloton offers, but I don’t want that anyway. I’ve tried other services that have interactive components but they didn’t do anything for me.
The bottom line is that it takes self-discipline to get on to a regular workout schedule and that’s not accomplished by spending $2500 for a stationary bike and workout videos. That’s why I just use the GCN videos and my cheap stationary trainer.
To be clear, GCN + my stationary trainer is a free alternative to Peloton because I already had the bike and trainer. You can do Peloton workouts without buying one of their bikes, but those workouts are only available through a subscription to their online service. GCN workouts are free to anyone who has access to YouTube.
